James Dodd’s concern with graffiti culture took him on a uniquely Australian journey.

During his residency, Dodd collected the text and marks that are handcarved into the Boab trees of our state’s north. The rich historical significance of the Boab trees and Dodd’s investigations into contemporary street art informed his residency and exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre.

His practice traverses a wealth of influences to present a rich and dynamic interpretation of street art and culture in a gallery environment. Originally a respected street artist, Dodd has received a Masters of Fine Art from the University of South Australia.
