Alistair Rowe | Chandni Chowk

WA artist Alistair Rowe completed a residency in Delhi in 2014, spending eight weeks in Chandni Chowk, one of the city’s oldest, biggest and busiest bazaars.

Inspired by the market’s sprawling network of narrow laneways and heritage as part of the 17th century Mughal capital, Rowe has created a series of sculptural works which beautifully combine the bazaar’s improvised and informal building methods with the refined and complex geometries for which Mughal architecture is famous.
